Creating Checklist Questions

The Checklist Library allows for Checklist questions to be created and re-used in multiple checklists.

When creating Checklist Questions, the system provides a lot of flexibility.  The fields available are:

  • Name (required) - The question as it will display when building the checklist and in the iPad app.  When building the checklist, the Name is the only thing that will display in the library, so it is important to provide a meaningful and unique name/question.
  • Description (optional) - Instructions for further explanation of the question.  For example, if the question is named "tire pressure" the description may state the acceptable time pressure range.  The description displays for the end user in the iPad app, and can be viewed/edited in the checklist once the question has been added.
  • Category (required) - The type of question that is being asked.  The default value is Pass/Fail.  Click here for explanation of all the options available.
  • Comments Required On Fail - This option is only available for questions with the Pass/Fail category.  Comments are always allowed, but turning this option on will Require them on any question set to "Fail".  By default this is turned off.
  • OOS Criteria - This option is only available for questions with the Pass/Fail category.  When turned on, if the answer it marked as "Fail", an extra designator that will display in the Checklist results further assisting the fleet department to know which items are considered Out of Service issues. Users can also sign in up receive notifications/email on all failed items, or just failed OOS items.
  • Photos Allowed - allows the user to take a photo and associate it with that question.  By default this is turned off.
  • Active - true = Active, false = Inactive, by default new questions are Active.

When the question is created and added to the checklist, it will display in the app like this:
