Editing Questions

Emergent provides 2 different methods for editing Checklist Questions: 1) Within the Checklist Template or 2) in the Checklist Library

Editing in the Checklist

Users can modify a Question after it has been added to the Checklist.

NOTE: Changes made to the question in the checklist are NOT saved back to the library, or applied to any other use of that question.

Use Cases:

  • Rather than create a library question specific to every count of an item that will be in a checklist, a generic item can be created in the library for use, and the count added to the Question name in each application of that question.
Example: An Inventory Checklist checks for 10 Bandages, in the top shelf and 5 Bandages in the bottom shelf, rather than creating 2 items in the library, a single item of Bandages can be created.  Then upon adding the question to the checklist, the Name can be modified to Bandages (x10) and Bandages (x5).
  • Rather than create a question for every inventory item to be checked, a high level question can be created, and upon use the details of what should be checked can be added to the Description.

Example:  An Inventory Checklist will check the inventory of the Bottom Shelf both in both the Front Compartment (section) and Medical Cabinet (section).  Because it is not desirable to have 2 questions in the library both named Bottom Shelf as they will not be distinguishable when adding to the checklist, a single question can be created, and the description left blank in the library.  Then when the user adds the question to the checklist, they can add a description specifying what should be verified for the Bottom Shelf in the Front Compartment vs the Bottom Shelf in the Medical Cabinet.

NOTE:  When editing a question in the checklist, the question status cannot be set to Inactive.

Editing in Libray

Questions can also be modified in the library.

NOTE:  When a question is modified in the Library, the changes made are NOT carried through to existing checklists that are using that question.

Making a question Inactive will NOT remove it from any existing Checklists where the question is already in use.
